Nella periferia italiana del primo Novecento, sotto un cielo carico di carbone, Mario attende la sua amata, deciso a regalarle un sogno da vivere insieme. Eppure, cosa può essere un sogno, si chiede, quando la realtà è così opprimente da impedire persino alla mente di concepirne uno? Un'attesa sospesa nel tempo, simbolo della solitudine e dell'alienazione in un paesaggio irrimediabilmente trasformato dall'uomo. Eppure, il palloncino rimane: una speranza, forse davvero un sogno.

In the Italian outskirts of the early twentieth century, beneath a sky laden with coal, Mario awaits his beloved, determined to gift her a dream to share. And yet, what can a dream be, he wonders, when reality is so oppressive that it even prevents the mind from imagining one? A wait suspended in time—a symbol of loneliness and alienation in a landscape irrevocably transformed by man. And yet, the balloon endures—a beacon of hope, perhaps truly a dream.

Domani inizierà la primavera. Tra poco l'ultima neve si scioglierà sulle mie montagne, le api, gli uccelli, gli orsi, torneranno a vivere questo habitat. I ruscelli saranno carichi d’acqua cristallina e gelida, gli alberi e i fiori rinasceranno. Ma c’è ancora spazio per la neve, la neve bagnata di primavera che potrebbe tornare fino ad Aprile. E sotto ad una vecchia betulla in ritardo vegetativo Wolfy potrebbe creare un nuovo pupazzo di neve: un nuovo amico effimero per avere compagnia in una notte fredda.

Tomorrow, spring will begin. Soon, the last snow will melt on my mountains, and the bees, birds, and bears will return to this habitat. The streams will be filled with icy, crystal-clear water, and trees and flowers will bloom once again.
But there is still room for snow—the wet spring snow that may return until April. And beneath an old birch, delayed in its awakening, Wolfy might build a new snowman—an ephemeral friend to keep him company on a cold night.

Natale arriva ogni anno, anche se ormai è passato, persino in quei luoghi dove il Natale non viene celebrato per ragioni culturali e religiose. Ho disegnato questa tavola nel novembre 2024, meditando sul Natale e su quei bambini che, anziché ricevere giocattoli e dolcezza, avrebbero trovato solo l'amara realtà della guerra. Ho pensato alla Palestina, all'Ucraina e tutti quei territori martoriati dai conflitti. Siamo l'unica specie vivente in grado di distruggerci, di ucciderci e di annientare tutto ciò che esiste. Se questo rappresenta l'evoluzione, allora abbiamo raggiunto un primato inquietante!

Christmas comes every year, even if it has already passed, even in those places where Christmas is not celebrated for cultural and religious reasons. I drew this panel in November 2024, reflecting on Christmas and on those children who, instead of receiving toys and sweetness, would have encountered only the bitter reality of war. I thought of Palestine, Ukraine, and all those territories scarred by conflicts. We are the only living species capable of destroying ourselves, of killing each other, and of annihilating everything that exists. If this represents evolution, then we have reached a disturbing record!

Oggi a Roma in Piazza del Popolo c’è la manifestazione a favore dell’Europa. Mi sono svegliato stamattina con la visione di un’Europa piccola mangiata dalla Russia e dagli USA a loro volta mangiati dal gigante cinese. Non c’è nulla di esaltante in tutto ciò, anzi direi che è una visione amara, ma è quello che sta accadendo. Le nostre scelte comportano sempre delle conseguenze, scegliere di essere mangiati senza opporsi, scegliere di non resistere, scegliere di non combattere è una visione che non posso condividere.

Today in Rome, in Piazza del Popolo, there is a demonstration in support of Europe. I woke up this morning with a vision of a small Europe, devoured by Russia and the USA, which in turn are being swallowed by the giant China. There is nothing exciting about this—in fact, I’d say it’s a bitter vision—but it is what is happening. Our choices always have consequences: choosing to be devoured without opposing it, choosing not to resist, choosing not to fight is a vision I cannot share.

Riflessione personale: Non ho mai troppo amato la Pop Art, ma i 25 ritratti di Warhol a Marilyn Monroe rappresentano un'eccezione significativa.

Personal reflection: I've never been a huge fan of Pop Art, but Warhol's 25 portraits of Marilyn Monroe are a significant exception.

Questa è stata l'idea da cui sono partito per il mio primo libro, ormai concluso e al vaglio degli editori. Certo il libro è molto diverso, diverso come stile, come colori, come formato, ma il tema della Luna, del viaggio spaziale, dell'esplorazione è molto forte e radicato. Spero che questo assaggio della tematica vi piaccia e per il resto... rimanete sintonizzati perché presto avrò novità pazzesche da condividere con voi!

This was the idea that sparked my first book, now completed and under review by publishers. Of course, the book turned out quite different—different in style, colors, and format—but the theme of the Moon, space travel, and exploration remains strong and deeply rooted. Wolfy quel giorno si spinse oltre la sua immaginazione, oltre il cielo conosciuto, nel freddo buio dello spazio per poter guardare le stelle da vicino, in equilibro su di un filo spinato avvolto a due lune rattoppate.

Wolfy, that day, ventured beyond his imagination, beyond the familiar sky, into the cold darkness of space to gaze at the stars up close, balancing on a barbed wire wrapped around two patched-up moons.

Un cuore stanco, che ha tanto vissuto… si può davvero ricaricare come una batteria scarica?

Mentre la Luna silenziosa osserva, Wolfy si chiede se esista una riparazione in garanzia.
Se, da qualche parte, ci sia davvero una clinica per cuori difettosi e sentimenti da ricostruire.

Words are no longer of use to this old heart.
One last attempt at resuscitation, before deciding whether to throw it away forever.
A weary heart, one that has lived so much… can it really be recharged like a dead battery?

While the silent Moon watches, Wolfy wonders if a warranty repair is possible.
If somewhere, a clinic truly exists for defective hearts and feelings in need of repair.

Ogni volta ti guardo e mi commuovo consapevole che il nostro tempo non è infinito e purtroppo si sta consumando a velocità diverse. Sarebbe bello che tu mi aspettassi un po’, magari qualche anno, per appianare la distanza tra noi. Sarebbe così bello, amico mio; sarebbe davvero bello!

Millo, I often wonder how much further we’ll be able to walk together, my little one. Every time I look at you, I get emotional, knowing that our time isn’t infinite and, sadly, it’s slipping away at different speeds.
It would be wonderful if you could wait for me a little, maybe a few more years, to close the distance between us.

Quando ho disegnato questa tavola pensavo alla Palestina, all’Ucraina, al Myanmar, al Pakistan, all’Afganistan, all’Africa con regioni come il Sahel, il Sudan e il Corno d’Africa, alle instabilità dell’America Latina.
Come riportano enti come l'ACLED e lo IED, attualmente nel mondo sono in corso 56 conflitti – il numero più alto dalla Seconda Guerra Mondiale – che coinvolgono direttamente o indirettamente almeno 92 Paesi, Italia compresa, e che hanno costretto oltre 100 milioni di persone a migrare.

È veramente questo il Mondo che sognavamo? È questo il Mondo che vogliamo per i nostri figli?

When I drew this illustration, I was thinking of Palestine, Ukraine, Myanmar, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Africa—with regions like the Sahel, Sudan, and the Horn of Africa—as well as the instability in Latin America.
According to organizations like ACLED and IED, there are currently 56 ongoing conflicts worldwide—the highest number since World War II—directly or indirectly involving at least 92 countries, including Italy, and forcing over 100 million people to flee their homes.

Is this really the world we dreamed of?
Is this the world we want for our children?
